I don’t have a set time that I photograph family sessions for and that’s because my philosophy on photographing families is to let kids be kids. We’ll do our best to grab a photo or two of everyone smiling at the camera but for the most part I like to let them run and play, snuggle and kiss and just do what kids do. Sometimes that takes a little longer for them to feel comfortable in a new place, and around a camera, or sometimes they tire out quickly, but I like to just shoot and capture things for awhile as long as their happy. I direct some shots to place everyone in the best lighting and create nice compositions, but I focus all of that around fun and play. This is so we get a lot of candids that will be cherished for years to come because it showed the personalities, laughs, sun bleached curls, and sandy toes that make this age so special.
