Film Photography

Like most of us, I started some new hobbies in the pandemic and one of them was learning film photography.

Film photography is strips of plastic that an image gets printed on, and is what everyone used before digital cameras became common in the early 2000s. The little plastic disposable cameras you’ve probably used as a kid use film in them!

I use similar types of film as a disposable camera, but more advanced equipment and send the film to a lab to be processed and scanned. The lab sends me digital files of the scans that I add into the final gallery of a wedding or shoot! Shooting pictures on film has certain colors, tones, and grain that are nearly impossible to replicate on digital files, and a vintage look to them that I love because it makes me feel nostalgic and reminds me of my parents and grandparents wedding photos. They feel more like a piece of art to me than digital files and I love that I don’t get to see how they turned out right away either.

Here are some of my favorite film photos that I’ve taken over the past few years for an example!
